Crave
Happenings!!
Hello All,
This week at Crave Dean gave the message about Gideon. He talked about how we need to learn from our past. It was a rough week for me because as I looked around the sanctuary I wondered if any of the teens were really listening. This is important stuff and so many of them were passing notes, texting, and falling asleep. As with any other area of ministry, this is sometimes frustrating. In my personal time with the Lord, I have been studying the book of Romans in 'The Message' version of the Bible. Yes, I realize that this is more of a paraphrase than a translation, but I've already read through the book of Romans in the NIV and the New Living Translation, so I am enjoying a different perspective. This morning I read a part where Paul was quoting Isaiah in Romans 10:17. He says, "But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: 'Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?'". This sums up my week at Crave. It was reassuring to read that I am in good company when I ask these questions.
HCC Snacks!

Our next snack night will be, Wednesday, March 2. We always have the first Wednesday of the month. Please note that for the sake of Pastor Bill's carpet and Nancy's back, it would be appreciated if we no longer provided full size cans of pop. The kids don't finish them and full cans get dumped on the floor and thrown in the garbage. It is wastful and difficult for Nancy to carry the garbage out. Small bottles with twist on caps or drink boxes are preferred. Our April snack night is Wednesday, April 6. Please seek out Tina LaCasse to find out what we need. You can either bring the snacks to church on Sunday or make sure to take them to the Assembly of God church on the Chardon Square between 5:30 and 6:00pm on the first Wednesday of each month!! Thanks :-)
Upcoming events include:

Next Friday, February 25 is YFC night at the Cavs game. The cost is $40. Teens who are interested in going should meet at Chardon High School at 3:00 p.m. The price includes transportation to and from the event and a postgame program with the players giving a faith based message. They will also be hanging out at Tower City for a while, so the young people should bring extra money for food. They will be back at Chardon High School at midnight. Registration along with the payment is due by Wednesday, February 23.

Sunday July 10th – Friday July 15th “Week of Hope”
** Candy bar sales for the 'Week of Hope' mission trip continue. I am proud to announce that our own Kaylynn Hill is leading so far in candy bar sales, thanks in part to her family at Hambden Congregational Church. Please keep up your support. The mission trip will be to Michigan and will take place July 10 - 15. I hope that you were all in church on Sunday to hear me read Kaylynn's letter about what this trip meant to her last year, but if not, please ask her. I'm sure that she would be happy to share with you.
$$ Have your dollars ready on Sunday to support our young people in this endeavor. To my knowledge both Holly and Tori LaCasse will be selling candy bars as well as Kaylyn Hill. $$$

Our church will need to purchase two 12" x 24" signs for the Crave float in the Maple Festival parade. There is apparently a place in Chardon that makes signs, so I will be checking into this in the very near future. I will give more details as they become available. Also for the parade, Pastor Jeff will be ordering postcards with Crave information to hand out.
***Another thing that takes place around the same time as the Maple Festival is Chardon Idol. Volunteers will be needed for this hugely popular event, which is put on by Youth for Christ.
FALL RETREAT!
The
Crave fall retreat will take place on Friday, November 4 - Saturday,
November 5. We are still trying to nail down a theme and location, since
Camp Burton is already booked for that weekend. We are looking into having
it at Red Oak
Camp.
**Pastor Jeff is going to be doing a class for seniors in an effort to prepare them for whatever life after high school has in store for them.
God is doing great things here in Chardon!!
In conclusion, please keep us all in your prayers. It is hard to not grow weary in doing what is right. Please pray also for the worship team, who will be losing several key members this summer, including the worship leader, due to graduation. Thank you for your continued support and kind words. It makes me feel encouraged to know that people are enjoying my e-mails and lifting me up in prayer. I am blessed to have such a wonderful church family, including a Pastor who saw the opportunity to get involved with Crave and jumped on board. Without his vision, I wouldn't be where I am right now. Thanks for reading :) - Michelle
